Family Fun Day Ballykeeffe 2010
The sun shined on all at Ballykeeffe last Sunday and a great day was had by all. Visiting Storyteller Melissa Baker came in a magical Caravan all the way from Cork to transport the children’s imagination to a land of fairies. Outside the Caravan it was like a fairy Kingdom as all you could see were happy children enjoying sliding down the bouncy castles, running around the grass, having their faces painted and enjoying many more activities. There was something for all ages as the adults and children alike indulged in local grown Strawberries and cream while they were entertained by the Irish Dancers from Tullaroan under the guidance of Deirdre Maher and magician Paul Phelan. A wonderful parade of dogs was to be seen in the dog show which was judged by Gina Henderson of PAWS in Mullinahone. It was great day with plenty of activity including on the cliff where members of the Mountain Rescue were scaling and absailing the rock face. There was also archery, go-Karting and many other activities to keep everyone entertained. The evening ended with entertainment by local musicians Colm and Miriam.
Amphitheatre
A special thanks, to all those who gave sponsorship for the Ballykeeffe festival this year and to Anne Neary of Ryeland House Cookery School who very kindly judged the Baking Competition, in its first year.
The committee would like to thank all those who helped out on the day, who supported the event and the volunteers who put so much work into maintaining the grounds.

" What a unique experience! There can't
be anywhere else like Ballykeeffe in Ireland. Playing there was a pleasure - its
intimate and easy to connect with the audience but at the same time there's a
sense of grandeur and drama beneath the magnificent rockface. A gem of a place
and I'm sure destined to become a favourite with all kinds of performers". | | | | | Noirinn

" The amphitheatre
was special and magical community resource. The dramatic cliff face of the
old quarry makes for a very impressive backdrop and the tiered seating is beautifully
landscaped in a way that also maximises the acoustics". | | | |
